The Beaus

About

Releasing their first single through Circuit Records in 2009, The Beaus received national radio airplay with features on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 and the regional BBC Introducing network, alongside prestigious gig bookings throughout the UK Academy and festival scene, with rave reviews from all sides. The combination of edgy northern tunes, hard-work ethic, outstanding self produced graphic imagery, and a talent for video production also provided the perfect foil for Skinny Pelembe to cut his artistic teeth.

Louche and stylish rock and roll insolence according to BBC 6 music, and touted as the real voice of young England their refreshing blend of cutting punk, hip hop, dub rhythms, acid wit and northern sensibilities gathered acclaim wherever the inimitable sound of the beaus was heard…

Skinny Pelembe, now signed to Giles Petersons Brownswood Recordings, has been tipped by The Observer, The Quietus and Huck. Singles “I Just Wanna Be Your Prisoner” and “Spit / Swallow” were both picked for BBC 6 Music’s A-List. He’s been in session for COLORS Berlin, guested with Lauren Laverne, Mary Ann Hobbs and Tom Ravenscroft on 6 Music, with Jamz Supernova on BBC 1xtra, and recorded live sessions for The Vinyl Factory and Worldwide FM.
